Run energy tenders from invitation to contract
EMP gives brokers and consultants one place to issue C&I electricity tenders, collect structured retailer offers, compare them and take a recommendation to your client, then hand the contract to UMS.
In pilot. Brokers can request access. Large-market NEM electricity today.
Illustrative data
Procurement still runs on workbooks.
Tender work is spread across spreadsheets, PDFs and email threads, offers arrive in different shapes, and the evidence rarely survives into contract management. EMP keeps each tender in one structured process, so the evidence stays connected to the agreement and the client service that follows.
How a tender runs
Six phases, in the order EMP runs them.
01
Prepare
Build lots from an editable sites grid, a CSV or UMS, then add incumbent terms, requirements and documents.

02
Issue
Issue the round to the retailers you invite, with addenda acknowledgements tracked.

For brokers and consultants
Run a defensible tender for each C&I client, from the first site list to the award.
Region and tender-type wizard
Start a tender by choosing the region on a map, then the tender type, the retailers to invite and the customer.
Sites, lots and incumbent terms
Build lots in an editable sites grid, or import sites from a CSV, a pasted grid or UMS. Record incumbent terms, requirements and documents, plus each site's on-site generation, export limit and battery.
Submission requirements and sealed bids
Set the questions and documents each retailer must provide before they can submit. Bids are sealed, so you see retailer files and answers only after the round closes. Submissions are versioned, and addenda acknowledgements are tracked.
Conversations under one messaging policy
Retailers reply privately and only the owning broker can post to every invitee. A work board shows your tenders and the work waiting on you.
Side-by-side comparison
Compare offers per lot with rankings, a cost-mix view and adjustable weights. Insight charts cover price ranking, cost mix, comparison with the current contract, monthly cost, contract terms and regions, each with a table view.
Approvals and client presentations
Run internal approvals before award, then send your client a branded presentation built from your own templates.
Everyone in the tender
Retailers price it. Your client decides.
For retailers
Retailers see invitations in one opportunities inbox and price lots manually, through an Excel or CSV template, or by uploading a PDF offer that EMP reads into the draft for them to accept. Submissions can be revised or withdrawn.
Retailers take part when a broker invites them to a tender. During the pilot, our team enrols each participating retailer first. Questions and answers stay private between each retailer and the broker running it.
For your client
Your client opens a review link, sees the recommended offer and runner-up for each lot, accepts, declines or requests changes, and can save it as a PDF.
Tender in EMP. Manage the contract in UMS.
Brokers can import sites from UMS into a tender. The awarded contract is handed to UMS for billing and account set-up, where the handoff is enabled for your organisation. Agreements and brokerage revenue are then managed in UMS and invoiced through a configured Xero connection.

Already mid-tender? Run EMP in parallel
Record each retailer's offer, decline and signed contract from a tender you're already running, compare them in EMP and keep your current process. Retailers don't need to log in, and a parallel run doesn't sync the award to UMS.

Tender types carry the same labels they have in the product.

FAQ
EMP questions
What is EMP?
EMP, the Energy Marketplace, is Utilified's energy tender platform, in pilot. Brokers and consultants issue C&I electricity tenders, retailers submit structured, versioned offers, and EMP compares them side by side. Your client reviews the recommendation through a link, and the awarded contract is handed to UMS for billing and account set-up where that handoff is enabled.
Who is EMP for?
EMP is for energy brokers and consultants who run tenders for C&I clients, and for the retailers who price them. Brokers prepare, issue, compare and award. Retailers price lots and answer questions in a consistent format. The end customer reviews the recommendation without an account. EMP is in pilot, and brokers can request access.
Which markets does EMP support?
During the pilot, EMP runs large-market electricity tenders in the NEM: NSW, VIC, QLD, SA, TAS, ACT. Large-market natural gas, small-market electricity, small-market natural gas and Solar & BESS tenders are shown in the product as coming soon. The platform is built to extend to other fuels and markets, but only the markets listed as available can be tendered today.
Do retailers need an account?
For a standard EMP tender, yes. Invited retailers sign in to see their opportunities, price lots and submit offers. In a parallel run, where a broker records offers from a tender they're already running elsewhere, retailers don't log in at all. During the pilot, our team enrols each retailer alongside the broker running the tender before they can sign in and respond.
How does EMP work with UMS?
Tender in EMP, then manage the contract in UMS. During the pilot, brokers can import sites from UMS into a tender. The awarded contract is handed to UMS for billing and account set-up where the handoff is enabled for your organisation, and agreements and brokerage revenue are managed there and invoiced through Xero. Parallel runs do not sync to UMS.
Can my client review offers without a login?
Yes. Your client gets a review link with no account needed. It shows the recommended offer and the runner-up for each lot, and they can accept, decline or request changes, then save the review as a PDF. Client review is part of the EMP pilot, and brokers can request access.
Is EMP generally available?
Not yet. EMP is in an early pilot, covering large-market NEM electricity tenders. If you run tenders for C&I clients and want to take part, request pilot access and our team will talk through your tender types, participants and data. There is no published EMP price.
